I See Dumb People....

OK... I'm pretty careful not to complain about work or give away clues as to my company's name.  Today, I'm breaking my self-imposed rules and having a *quick* bitch session.  Bear with me.

Dear, sweet co-worker B - you get emails for a reason.  Most of us know that emails are intended to READ.  Telling me and co-worker C that you don't read them - ON PURPOSE doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Furthermore, declaring with pride that if it's too long or you don't know the sender that you immediately delete said email ticks me off.

We have jobs that require we pay attention.  And not only read, but respond and archive our emails.  I have every.single.email since I started with my company 6 years ago (except for a month of emails that got wiped out in 2007 during a computer upgrade...but let's not go there).  It makes me wonder if you're going to hang up on people if you don't think the questions they are asking pertain to you.  I'd also like you to please pay attention to the details.  We know it isn't fun sometimes - but you get paid to know what is going on with your customer.  Suck it up, buttercup.  Just sayin'.

On another note...I *stupidly* did the math on how much I worked in 2009.  Somehow, I fit just short of 16 months worth of work into a 12 month span.  And I find myself wonder how in the world I did it. Seriously!  I took three of my four weeks of vacation. It could have been worse if I gave up more PTO time.  The final thought on this... Um, can someone please PAY ME for all the extra hours I put in?  Being a salaried employee sucks sometimes.

My rant has ended. Sigh.

But while I'm talking about work - let me share that I don't know what I'm going to do in April.  Co-worker C is going on maternity leave.  I'm so, so, so happy for her!!  She's my sanity at work though.  We're really alike in a lot of ways.  I know that if something is bugging me; it's highly likely that it's bugging her too and vice versa.  I'm going to have to bribe her to bring the baby in to visit - so I can see what is likely to be one of the cutest babies in history and so I can do a microrant.  :-)

Is anyone else having a craptastic time at work lately?

  2. Ugh! I do feel your pain. I had a rough week too. I had a co-worker actually get onto me because I came in before her and did not open her blinds. ??????? Was I supposed to open her blinds? Does she open mine when I'm not there? I'm perplexed.

  3. Hang in there! Being unemployed since July, I don't have a job to complain about but I do remember the frustrations well.

  4. The last two weeks at work have been my suckiest so far. I got a new student who has just about every issue you can think of. I so badly want to have an anonymous blog so I can talk about it all!

  5. As much as I love my job, it's been pretty consistently craptacular of late. My blog is filled with rants... And given what I just posted, it's a good job it's anonymous...!

  6. Girl, if you crammed 16 months of work in 12 months this should be a HUGE sign that you're working way too much!!!!

  7. You are not alone!

I too have the co-worker that just "chooses to not read certain email".

And in general, am not feeling the love in any direction in the office lately.

Let's hope there is strength in sanity to pull us through.

  9. My mom knows how you feel!
She has been working for the same company for almost 20 years! She has seen people coming and going in all those years! She liked some of them... she hated some of them too!
She says the worst are those kids who think they know everything but when the water dispenser is empty they come to her asking why?? Hmmm...
    Take care

  10. Hey Cole! My mom has been having a tough time at work too. They fired half of her dept, cutting it from 4 to 2 and now they are busier than they have been in a long time. She works late almost every day...but isn't supposed to get any O.T. Doesn't make any sense. As Daddy reminds her frequently, she should be happy she has a job....to which she replies, Shut UP!

  11. ha, at the company I worked for almost every e-mail was from someone that you didn't know! She wouldn't get away with it there because if you ignored someone, they'd just walk up to you at your desk.
