Tuesdays At The Table - Kicked Up Meatballs

Happy Tuesday, Ladies!  I just realized that next week is Thanksgiving.  Already?!  Really?

Next week I'll come prepared with a Thanksgiving appropriate side-dish.  This week I'm bringing my kicked-up meatballs.

Lovely Yellow Ribbons

Kicked Up Meatballs

1 1/2 lbs ground beef (10-15% fat)
1 lb ground sausage (without casings)
2 eggs
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan & Romano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil (or a handful of finely chopped fresh)
Pinch of oregano

In a small bowl, whisk eggs.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients together and combine well.  Let sit for a half hour or so for breadcrumbs to absorb moisture.

Roll into golf ball sized meatballs and place on a tinfoil lined baking sheet.  Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

I served these yesterday for a family dinner with angel hair, Caesar salad and garlic bread - YUM!

What's cooking in your kitchen?

  1. I love meatballs--those sound great!

  2. These sound great. I have made lasagna with the beef/sausage combo and it is an awesome combination!

  3. Now that's a spicy meat-a-ball-a! Sorry. I couldn't help myself. These look tasty!

  4. Love the meatballs but you have a typo, sauce for sausage. :-)

  5. Hi Cole! Happy tuesday! Only one more until thanksgiving! I cant believe it! I am linking up a great Giada recipe for smoked mozzarella stuffed meatballs with All'amatriciana sauce. Delicious! All the best, Alex

  9. The meatballs sound good. My husband makes incredibly good homemade meatballs but he only uses ground beef. I'll have to suggest adding some sausage in next time and try it.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for hosting!

  10. Those meatballs sound great! I shared my cranberry yogurt - just to get you in the mood for the holidays :)

  11. Thank you for another great recipe!

  16. Simple goodness on a plate. Nice ratio of beef to sausage, not so overpowering. Just started following you and will be back often
