Twilight & New Moon (Bunny Version)

By now you've all figured out that I'm easily amused (and if you didn't...SURPRISE...oh look, a PUPPY!).  Sorry, as I was saying, Twilight and cartoon bunnies are pretty funny.  Don't believe me?  Just look!

A New Moon Review

To sum it up in one sentence - I LOVED THIS MOVIE!

But we all know that I'd never let you all get off that easy.  :-) To make it easier on you (and me), I'm doing this in a bullet pointed "WOOHOO" and "BOO" format.

So, without further adieu,
my New Moon review.
(And I promise to try not to rhyme anymore!)

WOOHOO
  • The movie had a much bigger budget and it showed.  The special effects were much better (Hello wolves!) and it had less of an indy film feel.
  • The caliper of the acting from the ENTIRE cast went up!  I don't know what happened to Kristen Stewart - but you can feel the angst and depression rolling off her for most of the film. This film isn't going to gain any awards (OK... maybe the Teen Choice Awards and are almost promised something from MTV), but Taylor Lautner did AMAZING!
  • Taylor Lautner really beefed up.  He convinced me that really could turn into a wolf.
  • I really enjoyed how the director decided to show the passage of time in Bella's initial mourning of Edward.  Circling her and seeing out her window each month was really well done.
  • Charlie was portrayed well as the caring dad.  In fact he comes off more caring in the movie than the book.
  • Seeing Alice write emails to Alice was great.  Again, not true to the book - but I think it was a well thought-out creative decision.
  • The make-up!  All the vampires looked much more natural.  Rosalie and Alice looked beautiful, as did Esme.  Emmett was looking good and the little we saw of Edward was fabulousness.
  • The Volturi.  I loved them.  They looked to me on screen the way I envisioned them while I was reading the books, just slightly less frail.  I just want to see more of them.
  • I LOVED all the time that was spent in Italy.  Fabulous scenery as they drove to try and save Edward.  The parade scene was so rich and red; loved it!  And seeing Bella and Edward reunite made me cry.
  • The vote.  The family vote to make Bella a vampire was EXACTLY what I wanted it to be, and Rosalie got to deliver one of my favorite lines from the book.
BOO
  • In a word - Jasper.  The makeup on everyone else looked great, but I don't know what in the world was going on with Jasper.  He looked like he rolled out of bed (and we know that these vampires don't sleep) both times we saw him.
  • I really wanted to see more of the Volturri.  They are going to be so important in the next two films - I think that a few more minutes could have been spent introducing them.
  • The music.  Maybe it will grow on me.  I enjoyed the music from Twilight right away and I'm having a little more trouble connecting with New Moon's music this time around.
  • The ending. I admit; I was a little miffed that they ended where they did. There's more to that book!!!!  It cut off my absolute FAVORITE line of the book.  But, honestly, it will make the next movie that much better.
Only seven months, and a week until Eclipse comes out.  But who's counting?  :-) Want to read more New Moon reviews?  Check out ClassyFabSarah's and ThreeAgainstOne's reviews!

Any volunteers to come watch New Moon with me again?!?!  What did you think of the movie?

Musical Monday - Hallelujah

Happy Monday!  It's a short work week; YAY!

This weekend was pretty busy.  Saturday morning and early afternoon I went and test drove cars for JC.  I ended up putting a deposit on one and now just need to help him get all the loan paperwork together.  I'm most impressed with the fact that I was able to talk the manager down in his price a little.  Go me!

Saturday night was a field trip to see New Moon and eat at PF Changs with the girls.  We had a blast!  A full review will be coming on Wednesday.  :-)

Most of Sunday was cleaning.  It's been a stressful few weeks and I've neglected some of the cleaning; it was time to catch up.  With the exception of a little laundry (which never seems to end, btw) I'm all set.  The rest of Sunday was some Christmas shopping.  I'm still on a mission to finish my Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving.

This week's song is Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah.  Great song.  They used it last week on DWTS and my favorite use of the song was on West Wing.

Twilight/New Moon Products

Today was going to be my review of New Moon.  However, I realized that there are way too many of you who still want to see the movie (BTW, I want to see it again!) for me to review and accidentally give away a spoiler (but, if you read the books you already know what's going to happen anyway).

Instead, I decided to share with you two links to Twilight/New Moon products.

  1. The top ten most bizarre pieces of merchandising It is sad to admit that I actually want to see the Twilight cookbook?
  2. The 30 most disturbing Twilight products This has a few repeats from the above list... Also it has a few things that I'm strangely OK with and one item that I just can't believe. See if you can guess what it is.
OK, my fellow Twilight saga junkies.  Did you see New Moon yet?  Are any of these items on your holiday wish list?  Have any other links to funny/odd promotional items?

Random Thoughts...

I'm a little scattered today, so I apologize that I'm not sticking to one topic.  :-)

Did anyone watch Taylor Swift host SNL last week?  I didn't... but someone made me watch her opening monologue and I LOVED it.  You should watch it too, Mmkay?

Beckett made me take today off of work. (I know, GOOD DOG!)  Honestly, there were other reasons too... but he's getting the credit.  I've mentioned before that he is allergic to something in most shots and blows up like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade float.  He has to get his bordetella vaccine today and I feel the need to be near him with a bottle of children's Benadryl on hand.

Only eight days until Twilight opens & nine days until I get to see it.  HURRAY!!  Yes, I know I'm a geek - but you still love me, right?!

I realized today exactly how predictable I am.  I went out and ordered coffee; something different than what I usually get.  Well, the staff saw me and didn't make what I ordered - they gave me my usual iced latte instead.  :-)  Guess I need to order different things more often!

New Moon (The Twilight Saga)

I have a confession to make.

I've been sucked in by all things Twilight. The books? Read all four in under 3 days (total; not 3 day a piece). Twilight the movie? Saw it 3 times in the theater. Then pre-ordered it on DVD as soon as it was an option.

The next movie in the saga comes on on November 20th....and my crew has had a count down going for MONTHS! We already have the tickets pre-ordered and in our hot little hands. Yep, we're fanatics - but organized. So organized that we decided to not only go to the movies, but to go "de lux". Yep, the 21+ theater with comfy couches and adult beverages for us whilst ogling Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Peter Facinelli.
We rock. At least, we think so! :-)

So, have you been sucked in too? And, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

SHARE!!!!

Musical Monday - Uprising & Supermassive Black Hole

I can't believe another weekend flew past that quickly!!

I hope you all had a fun Halloween! Beckett was a good little boy and helped me hand out candy. The girls? Well, they aren't quite as fond of people coming to the door and were spent most of the time hanging in the back yard. (Don't worry...it was nice and warm out!)

Sorry, but I have to vent for a second. You do have rearview mirrors on your cars, right?!?! Yeah...I thought so. I went grocery shopping on Sunday and almost got hit 3 times & run over (while crossing in a crosswalk) TWICE! I totally understand that people are busy - but, GOOD LORD, watch where you are going!! That's it; end of rant. :-)

This week I'm sharing two songs by the same group - Muse. First is Supermassive Black Hole which if you're a Twilight fan, you're already familiar with. The second song is Uprising. You might have heard this on the background of the new V commercials.

Have a fabulous week!!

All Things Vampire Related

I think that I might be addicted to vampires...and I'm beginning to wonder if they have 12-step program for it. In my mind a meeting for it would go a little like this:

Me: Hi. My name is Cole, and I'm addicted to Vampires.
Group: Welcome, Cole.
Me: It's been 2 weeks since I last read the Twilight series.
Group: *Round of applause*
Me: I'm feeling the pressure; Twilight is available on DVD in just 2 hours. I've already ordered it online from Barnes & Noble...but I think that I might need to go wait in line for an emergency copy from BestBuy.
Group: You really need two copies?
Me: No, not really... but maybe, just maybe the extra copy could be part of my first give away?!?!
Group: Oh, that's a different story. To the cars people...it's a late night field trip!!

Yes, I know that I'm delusional. :-) It's not just Twilight though... For years, I've had an affinity for Anne Rice novels. Plus CBS made me ecstatically happy last year when they aired (the short lived series) Moonlight. Really, Alex O'Loughlin makes one HOT vampire!

Am I alone on my affinity for Twilight (both books and DVD)? I think that the hopeless romantic part of me likes that there's the possibility of FOREVER with someone you love.

What do you think? Could you deal with your hubby FOREVER? Or maybe just a good hundred years?!?!
